The Finale of Summer School 2019

Wow, I had a lot of fun during summer school. For the second week, we had some returning faces from the 1st week and our theme was adventure. At first they didn't quite understand what an adventure was and kept mistaking the word for "avengers" but throughout the week during our adventure based activities they began to understand what an adventure was. I taught them by giving them examples of adventures in different forms, like sky diving, or climbing a mountain, to even an astronaut in space. These are all examples of an adventure.

On Tuesday the students found a map in a bottle, the map was a detailed floor plan of the 6th floor and they had to try and find the next clue, which led to the 7th floor. So the students and I set off to the 6th floor in search of the clue, which they didn't know what it was until they saw it. The clue on the 6th floor was another map in a bottle which led to the treasure on the 7th floor.

The maps eventually lead to a treasure box full of toys. The students could pick one toy from the lot, if they took more than 1 they would be cursed! (Haha not really :P)

During the middle of the week the kinder class came into our room and we all watched Kung-Fu Panda 2. We all ate popcorn and enjoyed a movie about adventure! It looked like a giant slumber party.

At the end of the week we did a collaborative art project with the kinder class. Each student colored a page that would then be put together to reveal a giant image.

On the last day we baked cookies! which turned out pretty well, even though at first they started to look like cookie pancakes, but they ended up being really delicious! We used a hot plate to make them!

That is it for summer school 2019, it was so much fun. I look forward to next year.
