Sunshine Class Week 2-Animation

Image
Hello Sunshine Parents, Welcome to another great week of summer school. Our theme for this week was Animation. Over the course of three days, we wrote some animated stories, created animated characters, conducted a science experiment and  watched  animated movies. We made animated animal crafts. We danced along to animated songs   We had water fun in the sun at the park.  For the experiment, we created our  own magic potions by using bicarbonate of soda, vinegar and food coloring. We  made our own differently colored magic potions and watched the chemical reactions that took place when we mixed food coloring, vinegar and bicarbonate of soda. Have a good weekend, Sunshine Class!

Sunflower Class Week 1 2020 - Olympics

Image
Welcome to the Sunflower class' Summer school blog 2020! Our theme for this week was the Olympics and we did a number of fun activities that related to the Olympics. In order to prepare for our "opening ceremony," students watched some clips from the Atlanta 1996 Olympics opening ceremony. Then, they created their own country names and flags. The flags were quite creative! Students created their own Olympic torches using canola oil, water, food coloring, and a plastic bottle. Students created their own Olympic crown that were similar in style to the ones that the ancient Greeks wore. The Sunflower class created the Olympic rings using baking soda, water, and food coloring.

Summer School 2020 in grades 1-3

Hello parents and students! We had a fabulous time in the first week of summer school. We did lots of craft, such as making bracelets, necklaces and keyrings. We also did friendship bracelets and origami. Early in the week the weather was sadly too wet to go outside, so we played some indoor games and did painting of a bird design. Our theme is the Olympics, so we also drew some of the cute mascots from the Tokyo Olympics, designed our own medals and made torches out of paper. We did some math lessons related to sports and went to the park on Wednesday and Thursday. On Thursday we went to Amidaike park and had a water fight! The children played well together and welcomed new students to the class. On Friday we used cute art by the US artist Charley Harper and copied his work to make animal drawings like the penguin in this photo.
