Summer School Primary Week 3

Theme - Colors We made our essential agreement and everyone drew a self portrait to sign it with.    On Monday we read Neon Leon by Jane Clarke and Britta Teckentrup.  We explored the idea of camouflage, and found interesting textures and colors in the classroom. We then chose an object and made our own chameleon.  We also had a scavenger hunt, recording how many things we could find of each color.  On Tuesday we read Swatch, the Girl Who Loved Color by Julia Denos.  We discussed how different colors make us feel and students drew a picture showing their favorite color.  We also did math coloring, water play and had a dance party!  On Wednesday we read This Book is Gray by Lindsay Ward.   We talked about what kind of story we could make about our favourite color, and students wrote them down. Summer School Pre-Kinder Week 1

 Pre-kinder Summer School Week 1 Colors! We had a lot of fun this week learning all about colors We enjoyed a puppet show  W e played colored corners We enjoyed water play Created a collaborative art work together as a class!  We had a wonderful week with our friend and we are looking forward to next week and learning about fairies!

Primary Summer School Week 2!

    👷🚧👷 Construction Week! 👷🚧👷                            Our theme this week was construction! We had lots of fun learning about constriction sites and construction workers. We were even able to build some things of our own! In math, We learned about measurement and using standard and non-standard units. In our first lesson we went around the room deciding how to measure each item with a non-standard unit, like our hands or a cube. In our second math lesson we used scraps of paper to make houses and then used a ruler to measure each part of the house.  First lesson Second lesson We read the Three Little Pigs and tried to put the story into sequential order. We reflected on what building materials were the strongest and why. Then we had the opportunity to make our own house for the three little pigs!
