Sunflower Week 2

Hello Sunflower parents!

We had a great second week of summer school at Abroad International! This week we explored the theme Space. Students learned some interesting things while exploring this theme and they had fun collaborating through their learning and further developed their English skills.

Upper primary students explored a different topic each day. On Monday we brainstormed all we knew about space and developed questions we wanted to explore. On Tuesday we learned about the moon landings and how many astronauts have been to the moon. Wednesday we learned about the constellations and built our own constellations out of marshmallows and toothpicks. The topics of focus on Thursday were stars and black holes. Our final daily topic on today in class was the Goldilocks zone and alien life.

In math we used information about space to practice converting units of measurement and practicing some arithmetic. Students also spent some time learning two and three step equations and worked hard on problems dealing with fractions.

In cooking class we learned about what it is like to eat and cook in space. Then we made some astronauts pudding that students could eat out of the plastic pouch just like astronauts do on the International Space Station.

We also had a fun cooling off at the park with water games at the park! Students and teachers all participated in the fun. We are all looking forward to having more fun next week.
